Box Contents

  • Quantity — 60 Helly Hansen jackets and coats, press-compressed and strapped, around 45 kg.
  • Models — the bale may contain Helly Tech shells and ski jackets, the Crew Jacket and other sailing-line pieces, rain jackets and windbreakers, insulated parkas and puffers, softshells, and Helly Hansen Workwear pieces. It may also hold sleeveless gilets, fleece-lined jackets, pieces with reflective tape and jackets whose water repellency needs reactivating. The models and ranges named here are possible examples: neither their presence nor their distribution is guaranteed piece by piece.
  • Gender — predominantly men's. A few women's or children's pieces may be present depending on the shipment.
  • Sizes and colours — assorted as received, not selectable. Generous sizing, built to be worn over several layers.
  • Selling season — best listed from September, demand peaking November to January, market still active through March. Workwear and windbreakers sell outside the cold months.

Resale tips

Sort by range before you sort by grade.
On this bale, the first useful split is not Grade A from Grade B but whichever ranges your shipment actually holds: ski, sailing, rain, workwear. Those families do not speak to the same buyers and do not photograph the same way. Build your piles, then run each one through the Grade A / Grade B check.

Record the Helly Tech marking before you wash.
That line on the label is what sets your selling price, and it fades in the wash on older pieces: note it now. Then wash at 30 °C with no fabric softener — softener clogs the pores of the membrane and kills the waterproofing, which is the selling argument. A spell in a warm tumble dryer reactivates the durable water repellent on a shell that no longer beads: ten minutes that turn a dull jacket into one that photographs well. Never put an iron on a membrane or on a taped seam, and clean coated pieces such as the Moss with a damp sponge rather than in a machine.

Check zips, hook-and-loop fastenings and taped seams before listing.
On a technical jacket, the main zip and lifting internal seam tape are the two most common reasons for returns. On workwear pieces, check the reflective tape as well: once it lifts, the piece drops to Grade B.

Name the model and the membrane tier in your title.
"Helly Hansen jacket" sells at the price of the logo; "Helly Hansen Helly Tech Performance ski jacket" sells at the price of the technology. Shoot the inner label close up, hood up and pockets open, and mention the lining. List ski shells and Crew jackets individually, group windbreakers and softshells into bundles. Workwear does not sell in the same place: keep it out of your fashion listings and offer it separately — it finds a buyer all year round. Aim to list in September: at the opening of the window you face little competition on the category; by November you land in the middle of everyone else.

Resale potential

Cost: €11.00 per piece.

  • After sorting, washing and reconditioning, Grade A Helly Hansen jackets and coats typically resell for between €25 and €65 each on Vinted, Depop or eBay — Helly Tech shells and insulated parkas sitting at the top of that range, windbreakers and workwear at the bottom. Indicative range, to confirm and adjust against your own sales.
  • Potential on this bale: around €1,440 in resale value for a cost of €660, based on a conservative average of €32 per piece across the ~45 Grade A pieces expected. The rest comes down to your sorting and your photos.

Indicative potential only — depends on your sorting, your photos and your market.

Article Quality

Understanding our grades

Every box displays a badge indicating its composition. Here is what each grade means:

🟢 Grade A — good overall condition

Garments that meet professional second-hand standards: few or no visible flaws. Resellable after a simple wash and press.

🟡 Grade B — visible signs of wear

Usable pieces showing more pronounced marks of use: light stains, fading, fabric wear or minor flaws. Well suited to resale at an adjusted price, or after light reconditioning.

What each badge means:

  • Badge "Grade A/B" → around 80% Grade A + 20% Grade B.
  • Badge "Grade B" → 100% Grade B (no Grade A pieces).
  • Badge "Bale" → around 75% Grade A on average, a rate that varies from one bale to the next.

👉 Always refer to the badge shown on each box: it states the exact composition of that particular lot.

Compressed bales: what to expect

A bale is not a box. It is sold exactly as we receive it: press-compressed and strapped. We remove no pieces, we recompose nothing, and we do not wash.

  • Around 75% Grade A on average, against ~80% for a box. This is an observed average that varies from one bale to the next: as no re-sorting is carried out, the composition depends entirely on the incoming shipment.
  • The clothes arrive creased. This is the effect of compression and has no impact on the fabric: steaming is enough.
  • Washing and ironing are your responsibility before listing.
  • Neither brands, nor sizes, nor models are guaranteed piece by piece. What the product page describes is an average composition, not a certified item-by-item content.

This is the accepted trade-off for the lowest price per piece in our catalogue: less selection upstream, more reconditioning work, and the widest margin once that work is done.

The reality of second-hand

Like any garment that has already had a first life, some items show natural signs of use: softened fabric, less rigid finishes, small imperfections that come from washing and time. These characteristics are inherent to vintage clothing and part of the product's life cycle.

Our advice for getting the most from your resale

Before listing, plan for light care: washing, ironing, and where needed stain removal or a minor repair. This reconditioning work makes a clear difference to how the pieces present and how attractive they look.

To learn more about our grading system and the distinction between Grade A and Grade B, see our dedicated guide.

Sizes and photos

Each box includes a balanced mix of sizes, styles, and colors, depending on available arrivals.

The photos shown are non-contractual: they illustrate the type of products you may receive, without guaranteeing specific models, sizes, or colors.

Each lot is unique, guaranteeing a pleasant surprise with every order.

Fast & Flexible Delivery

Don't let your sourcing wait.

All our orders are shipped within 24 to 72 business hours.

Delivery time then depends on the chosen shipping method and destination.

Bale of 60 Helly Hansen Jackets and Coats

Box description

Helly Hansen has been dressing sailors since 1877. The Norwegian brand then took the same obsession with staying dry into skiing, into city rainwear and onto building sites — and a bale of 60 of its jackets may bring all four together, with as much price spread between them as you would find across four separate brands.

Four worlds in one bale

You will usually find shells and ski jackets, the technical end of the lot: adjustable hood, taped seams, adjustable cuffs, sometimes a powder skirt — on lines such as Rider, Loke, Seven J or Alpha. The sailing side may bring the Crew Jacket, the brand's most recognisable piece: windproof nylon, high fleece-lined collar, hood stowed in the collar and the HH logo across the chest. The bale may also hold rain jackets and windbreakers such as the Dubliner or the Moss, insulated parkas and puffers, softshells, and Helly Hansen Workwear pieces — Kensington, Chelsea Evolution, Oxford — recognisable by their reinforcements, multiple pockets and, on some, reflective tape. Colours can run from plain black and navy to the colour-blocking of the older collections, including the heavy red-blue-yellow combinations of the nineties. The models named here are possible examples, never a guaranteed piece-by-piece content.

Helly Tech, LIFALOFT, Hydro Power: reading the labels

On a Helly Hansen jacket, the inner label is worth money. Helly Tech — in its Protection, Performance and Professional tiers — marks the brand's waterproof and breathable pieces, and the tier printed on the label ranks the piece directly. LIFALOFT, PrimaLoft and H2Flow flag the insulated or ventilated models, Hydro Power the sailing line. At equal condition and equal age, a jacket carrying one of these marks resells above a logo-only piece. On this brand it is the inner label, rather than the logo on the outside, that ranks the pieces within a single lot.

Who buys what

Helly Tech ski shells, where they turn up, are what pull the range upward: they sell one at a time, to buyers who compare membrane tiers and read the label before they pay. The Crew and the sailing pieces speak to an entirely different profile, closer to fashion than to performance, drawn by the logo and the colour-blocking — and that is where the bright colourways of the older collections pay best. Rain jackets and softshells make up the useful entry level: fast turnover, accessible price, low risk, the stock that fills a shop between two standout pieces. Workwear never crosses paths with the other three: it finds its buyer among tradespeople and professionals, on channels separate from fashion resale.

A winter peak, plus the rest of the year

On a jacket, the selling window is well mapped: it opens in September, peaks from November to January and closes slowly through March, with a second surge on ski pieces around the winter holidays. Building stock a few months before that opening means reaching the market while the category is still uncrowded. Helly Hansen has the added advantage of not switching off with winter: the Crew is a mid-season piece, windbreakers pick up again in spring and workwear ignores the calendar altogether — three ways out where a strictly winter brand leaves only one.

Sizing is European but generous: built to be worn over one or two layers, these jackets often suit a frame one size up from what the label states. Cuts are predominantly men's, sizes assorted as received.
