Q4 Stock — Jackets, Fleeces and Knitwear in Boxes, Kilo Lots and Bales

Q4 stock is the heavy end of the year: jackets and coats, fleeces, knitwear, sweatshirts and flannel shirts, with outdoor and sportswear labels like The North Face, Columbia and Ralph Lauren. Three formats sit side by side — boxes, kilo lots and compressed bales. For resellers building a winter stock ahead of the demand.

What this collection holds

This collection brings together the lots meant for the final quarter of the year: jackets and coats, zip and funnel-neck fleeces, knitwear, hoodies and crewnecks, heavy flannel shirts. All three formats sit side by side — box, kilo lot and compressed bale — because the same stocking need is handled differently depending on the cash you commit and the time you can spend restoring the pieces.

Contents shift with each intake. A category available today may be missing from the next delivery, and the reverse holds too.

Brands and pieces you come across

A few names come back regularly on this quarter. Outdoor and technical: The North Face, Columbia, Helly Hansen, Patagonia, L.L. Bean, Eddie Bauer. Knitwear and preppy: Ralph Lauren, Chaps, Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica. Sportswear: Nike, Adidas, Champion, Puma, Fila, Ellesse, Under Armour.

The pieces you meet most often are zip fleeces, puffer jackets and gilets, parkas, coach jackets and ski jackets, V-neck and cable knits, flannel shirts. This list is not exhaustive: the mix varies with each intake, and neither the presence nor the quantity of any given brand is guaranteed in a lot.

Resale potential

Cold-weather clothing is where the per-item price gap is widest in second-hand: a branded fleece or a recognisable puffer resells for several times the price of a t-shirt, for a comparable amount of restoration work. Demand comes first from Vinted, Depop and eBay buyers hunting a specific outdoor brand, then from bricks-and-mortar vintage shops filling their rails before the first cold spell.

A recognisable branded piece takes three lines to describe and needs no styling to photograph, which shortens the gap between unpacking a lot and listing it. The outcome itself depends on your market, your listings and the time you put into washing and pressing.

Which format to choose

  • Boxes — contents picked upstream, piece count known, minimal work on arrival. The format for testing a category before committing a budget.
  • Kilo lots — sold by weight, flexible volumes. Useful to top up an existing stock in one category.
  • Bales — the raw format, unsorted and unwashed: the lowest price per piece in exchange for restoration time. On heavy categories, that is where the gap widens.

The Grade A share is not the same across formats. It is stated on each product page and detailed in the "Item quality" section.

Seasonality

Winter lots are bought out of step with the season they sell in. Second-hand buyers start looking for fleeces and puffers as soon as the nights turn cold, and demand holds until the winter sales. To be listed by then, the lot has to be received, washed, pressed and photographed weeks earlier — hence buying the raw material in late summer and early autumn.

On that cycle, fleece and jacket bales go first; knitwear, flannel and sweatshirts follow.
